Driftwood, limestone, flint, slate, wire from the beach at Achiltibuie, NW Scotland
This piece developed from the small complicated root tangle at its heart which was found at the beach. After trying for some time and in several ways to incorporate it in larger ideas it suddenly revealed itself as the most important centrepiece of a small and whimsical sculpture. The fluted branches became home to the wires holding two small stones, one halfway in motion the other relaxing at the bottom of the curve and gently swinging with the breeze. The central larger flat slate pebble which is cradled in the wood is signalling that it is time to stop and play!
