Open Studios 2024 4 - 27 May 2024 The natural world is the most precious resource we humans have. I have made it my task to look closer at nature and to show how wonderful the natural world is when we take a little time to engage with it. The textures, colours and contrasts of natural and recycled materials, especially driftwood are my building blocks.

Open Studios 2023 Saturdays 13, 20 and 27 May and Sundays 14, 21 and 28 May Petra Giede-Barnes emphasises that natural world is the most precious resource we humans have. She has made it her task to get us to look closer at it and to learn how wonderful nature actually is when we take the time to engage with it. The textures, colours and contrasts of all of the materials, especially the wood, are her building blocks. Leaving the individual items in their most original state requires a large amount of resources to find the best fit and combination. When Petra started making sculptures in 2014 she finally realised why she had collected boxes full of shells, driftwood, pebbles, stones and other beach finds since childhood. Most of her sculptures are witnesses of her life through the last 20 years www.open-studios.org.uk
Open Studios 2022 Saturdays 13, 20 and 27 May and Sundays 14, 21 and 28 May Petra Giede-Barnes has been captivated by the natural world since childhood and collected natural objects like driftwood, shells, pebbles and flotsam ever since. It is her aim to make us look closer at their beauty by enhancing their visual, structural, textural, and tactile characteristics through using a minimum of manipulation. It hopes to encourage us to build a more protective attitude towards nature and our planet. www.open-studios.org.uk
